What does a thermal camera show?
Wet building materials and leaking pipes are a different temperature from the dry areas around them. A thermal camera turns those differences into an image, which shows the shape of a damp patch, the line of a hot water pipe in a slab, or water spreading from a shower or window. It's a fast, non-invasive way to narrow down where to test.
A thermal image on its own isn't proof of a leak. We always confirm what the camera shows with moisture readings, pressure testing, acoustic listening or dye and flood testing, and the results go in your report.

Insurance-ready report
Your report shows the leak's location and cause with photos and test results, which is what insurers and loss adjusters ask for. Many home and strata policies cover the cost of finding a leak that has caused damage, but it depends on your policy, so check with your insurer.
High water bill
Gold Coast homes are billed by the City of Gold Coast, and Tweed homes by Tweed Shire Council. If a hidden leak pushed your bill up, ask them whether you can apply for a leak adjustment. Our report gives them the evidence of where the leak was. Read our guide to claiming a water bill leak credit.
Repairs: our visit is about finding the leak. We mark it, explain the cause and give you the report. If you'd like us to fix it, we'll quote the repair and return at another time to complete it, often with trusted independent trades. How much does a thermal imaging inspection cost on the Gold Coast?
It's $398 including GST for the first hour on site, including the written report. Extra time, if needed, is $168 an hour and we always check with you first.
Can a thermal camera see through walls?
No. It reads surface temperature. Moisture and leaking pipes change the surface temperature, which is why the camera can show where water is behind a wall or ceiling.
Is thermal imaging enough to prove a leak?
Not on its own. We confirm what the camera shows with moisture readings and testing, and those results go in your report.
Does it work on roof and balcony leaks?
Yes. Thermal imaging shows where water has spread after rain or a flood test, which helps us trace it back to the source.
What happens if you can't find the leak?
We offer Found or you don't pay: if we can't find the leak you booked us for, you don't pay for the inspection. Conditions apply; see our guarantee terms.
Will the report help with my insurance claim?
Yes. It shows where the leak is and what caused it, with thermal images and photos. We can't say what your insurer will cover, so check your policy.
