What is acoustic leak detection?
Water escaping from a pressurised pipe makes a noise. Ground microphones and contact sensors amplify that sound so the technician can follow the pipe and find where it's loudest. Before listening, we confirm there is a leak with a meter test and, where needed, a pressure test, and we isolate fixtures so we're only listening to the pipe that's leaking.
On quiet or very small leaks, plastic pipes, or pipes buried deep under slabs, we combine acoustic listening with tracer gas or thermal imaging to confirm the location.

Your report shows the leak's location and cause with photos and test results, which is what insurers and loss adjusters ask for. Many home and strata policies cover the cost of finding a leak that has caused damage, but it depends on your policy, so check with your insurer.
High water bill

It's $398 including GST for the first hour on site, with the written report included. If more time is needed, extra time is $168 an hour, and we always check with you first.
Can acoustic equipment find a leak under a concrete slab?
Yes. Ground microphones pick up the sound of water escaping from a pressurised pipe through concrete and tiles. On very quiet leaks we confirm the location with tracer gas or thermal imaging.
Will you need to dig or break tiles?
No. We find and mark the leak from the surface. Only the confirmed leak point needs to be opened for the repair.
Does acoustic leak detection work on plastic pipes?
Plastic pipes carry sound less well than copper, so leaks can be quieter. We often combine acoustic listening with tracer gas on plastic pipes to pinpoint the leak.
What happens if you can't find the leak?
