- Turn off the water at the meter, usually near the front boundary, and switch off the hot water system.
- Switch off the power to any area where water is near power points or lights.
- Take photos for your insurer, landlord or owners corporation, then call us on 1300 346 353, 24/7.
How water leak detection works
Water leak detection is a process of elimination. We start at the water meter to confirm there is a leak and how fast it is running, then isolate the toilets, taps, appliances and hot water system and pressure test the hot and cold lines one at a time. That tells us which pipe is leaking before we look for the exact spot. Then acoustic microphones, thermal cameras, tracer gas and moisture meters pinpoint it.
The Mornington Peninsula adds its own challenges. Holiday homes can leak for weeks with nobody there, sandy coastal soils let an underground leak drain away without a wet patch, salt air corrodes fittings, and many homes have pools, spas, tanks and long supply lines on large, sloping blocks. Newer homes in Mornington, Mount Martha and Rosebud sit on concrete slabs where a hot water leak can run unseen.
Water leak detection services on the Mornington Peninsula

Water meter and high bill testing
A meter that moves with every tap off, or a bill that has jumped, means water is escaping on your side of the meter. We confirm the leak rate and narrow it down.

Underground and tank lines
Leaks in long supply lines, tank and irrigation pipes in sandy soil, found with acoustic listening and tracer gas.

Slab leaks
Hot and cold pipes leaking under concrete slabs, pinpointed with thermal imaging and ground microphones.

Leaks in walls and floors
Split copper pipes and corroded fittings inside walls and under floors, tracked back with thermal cameras.

Pool and spa plumbing
Pools that drop faster than they evaporate. We pressure test the lines and dye test the fittings.

Damage and mould
Long-running leaks soak carpets and grow mould. Our report records the damage for your insurer.

How do I check if I have a hidden leak?

Will my report help with an insurance claim?
Yes. Every job includes a PDF report with photos, thermal images, readings and the cause of the leak. Insurers use it to assess resultant damage, and property managers use it to organise the repair.
