How much does gas leak detection cost?
Gas leak detection costs $398 inc. GST for the first hour on site in metro Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. If more time is needed, extra time is $198 per hour in Victoria and $168 per hour in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and we'll tell you before going past the first hour. The written report with photos is included. Prices outside the metro areas are based on travel time:

What affects the cost?
- How many leaks there are. A single leak on one line is the simplest job. Several leaks, or several lines to test, take longer.
- Where the pipe runs. Long underground mains, pipes under a concrete slab and lines in walls can need more testing time.
- Access. Apartments and strata buildings may need access to the unit above or below, the roof or a plant room.
- Location. Areas outside metro Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast have their own first-hour price, shown above.

Common questions
What should I do if I smell gas?
Don't use switches, flames or anything that could spark. If it's safe, turn off the gas at the meter, open windows and leave the building, then call your gas distributor's emergency line, which is on your gas bill. Call us to find the leak once the area is safe.
Do you fix gas leaks?
Gas pipe repairs must be done by a licensed gasfitter. We find and mark the leak and give you a report, and we can quote the repair and return at another time to complete it if you'd like.
My gas bill has gone up. Could it be a leak?
It can be. A small leak in an underground or wall gas pipe can run unnoticed. We pressure test the installation to confirm whether gas is escaping and where.
How long does gas leak detection take?
Most gas leaks are found within the first hour. Long or underground gas lines can take longer, and we'll tell you before going past the first hour.
