Appointment Guide

  • For Residential Sites:

    • To ensure a thorough and accurate leak detection, we require the following:

    • Gas and water shut off

    • Access inside the premises

    • Access to areas where internal building leaks may occur, such as walls, windows, doors, and ceilings

    • Access to the floor above the premises, if applicable

Please note that every extra half hour will be charged at $98, and all prices include GST.

    For Commercial Sites (including schools):

    • For a seamless and efficient leak detection process, we require:

    • Mains gas and water shut off

    • Downtime, such as before or after school/business hours, to avoid disruption

    • No machinery or heavy haulage operating during the appointment

Similar to residential sites, every extra half hour will be charged at $98, and all prices include GST.

  • All rain related and internal building leaks: roof, balcony, ceiling, wall, windows & doors. Shower & bathroom, rising damp, water damage, slab heave, condensation and mould.

  • Basic types of pools: fiberglass pools, in-ground concrete pools, and vinyl liner pools.

Fiberglass Pools: These are pre-made pools constructed using a fiberglass shell. They are durable, low-maintenance, and have a smooth surface. Fiberglass pools are available in various shapes and sizes.

In-ground Concrete Pools: These pools are custom-built on-site using concrete, giving flexibility in design and shape. Concrete pools offer durability, longevity, and can be customized with various finishes and features.

Vinyl Liner Pools: These pools have a vinyl liner installed over a frame or a pre-formed panel structure. Vinyl liner pools are cost-effective, relatively easy to install, and offer a variety of design options. However, the vinyl liner will require replacement after a certain period.

    Site Safety

For any pool tests to be conducted, it is necessary for the pool to be full, clean, and clear, and topped up to its normal running height. This is important because if the pool water level drops too low, a leak may be missed during the structural test, leading to a potential callback for the job. Additionally, the pool must be clean for safety reasons, as diving into dirty water can pose health risks and may result in overlooking potential issues.

It is important to note that 1300FINDLEAK PTY LTD will not be held liable for any breaks or damages that may occur to old or brittle equipment, fittings, or fixtures during the testing process. However, most breakages can be replaced onsite at the time of the appointment for a nominal fee.

Please be aware that major repairs will not be conducted onsite during the appointment. The technician will assess the repair needed and provide information on the required time and return visit to complete the repair.

In some cases, piping may need to be cut to gain access for a pressure test. The technician will make their best efforts to restore the piping to its original condition or ensure that the equipment is in proper running order when leaving the site.

    Pool & Spa Maintenance

In addition to pool and spa leak detection we offer the below services starting from $298.- including GST. Please call 1300 FINDLEAK (1300 346 353) to arrange an appointment.

Replace hydrostatic valve: Replace the hydrostatic valve located at the bottom of the pool. The cost for this service will be $298 including GST for the first hour. Each additional half-hour block will be charged at a rate of $98 including GST.

Structural test of pool or spa: Structural dive in the pool or spa and conduct dye and mold tests on all fixtures and fittings to locate the leak. The cost of testing will be $398 including GST for the initial two hours. Each additional half-hour block will be charged at a rate of $98 including GST.

Pool pipes only: pressure test using inert gas up to 100kPa on all reachable pool pipes from the surface. If the pipe work extends below the pool surface and the technician needs to enter the pool for testing, a full pool test will be conducted and charged at $598 including GST. If the technician can conduct the testing without entering the pool, the cost will be $398 including GST for the initial two hours. Each additional half-hour block will be charged at a rate of $98 including GST.

Pre-Plumb: Pressure test on all pipes within the pool and spa, up to 100kPa, before the pool is tiled and filled in. The cost of the testing service will be $598 including GST for the initial two hours. Each additional half-hour block will be charged at a rate of $98 including GST.

Additional cost for replacement of fixtures and fitting:

    • Hydrostatic valve $66 inc gst

    • Epoxy Patch $33 inc

    • Vinyl Patch $22 inc

    • Eyeball $22 inc

    • Suction Cover $44 inc

Any pools with infloors will need a second technician and therefore cannot be done with only one pool technician.

Roof Inspection Safety:

Fall protection is a workplace safety requirement, such as roofs that have an incline over 5 degrees and when individuals are working at a minimum height of two meters and over. Fall hazards will be accessed by our technicians and if deemed unsafe, appointments will be rescheduled until safety measures are in place. Walking or working within two metres of a roof’s edge, the job will require guardrails, a static line or both. 1300FINDLEAK PTY LTD strives to employ the highest level of safety precautions whenever possible, to avoid injuries to workers and liability to the company. Appointment FAQs

  • A leak detection appointment typically includes the following steps:

    • Initial Consultation: The technician will begin by discussing your concerns, gathering information about the issue, and understanding the history of any previous leaks or repairs.

    • Visual Inspection: The technician will conduct a thorough visual inspection of your property to identify potential leak sources, signs of water damage, and any other related issues.

    • Leak Detection: Using specialized equipment and techniques, such as acoustic listening devices, infrared cameras, or tracer gas, the technician will pinpoint the precise location of the leak. The chosen method depends on the type of leak and the specific situation.

    • Diagnostic Report: After the leak has been located, the technician will provide you with information outlining the findings, the cause of the leak, and any recommended repairs or preventive measures.

    • Repair Recommendations: Based on the diagnostic report, the technician may suggest immediate repairs or long-term maintenance solutions to prevent future leaks. In some cases, we perform minor repairs on-site, while for more extensive repairs a quote will be provided for another contractor to attend.

    • Preventative Maintenance Tips: The technician will offer advice on how to maintain your home's plumbing and gas systems to minimize the risk of future leaks. This may include suggestions for regular inspections, maintenance schedules, or upgrades to outdated equipment.

    • Follow-Up: Depending on the severity of the leak and the repair process, the technician may schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure the issue has been resolved and the repairs are holding up as expected.

  • A $98.- is required for online bookings. On the day of your leak detection appointment, you can conveniently pay the balance using either a credit card or cash. The technician will have a payment terminal on hand to process your payment securely. You will receive an invoice and receipt detailing the services provided and the total cost on the next business day, ensuring that you have a clear record of the transaction for your personal records.

  • Most leak detection appointments take approximately 1 hour. While technicians are punctual in most cases, it's wise to allow for a 3-hour window to accommodate any unexpected delays or early arrivals. To keep you informed and prepared, the technician will send you a text message notifying you of their pending arrival.

  • Upon the completion of your leak detection appointment, a summary of the findings, recommendations, and relevant photos will be provided in the description section of your invoice. This information ensures you have a clear understanding of the issue and the suggested course of action.

In cases where you are involved in a dispute with a builder or Owners Corporation, or if your insurance company requires it for claims processing, we recommend opting for a detailed report. This report will provide a more in-depth analysis of the findings and can serve as valuable evidence to support your case or claim, ensuring you have the necessary documentation to protect your interests.

  • For businesses such as real estate agents, builders, owners corporations, plumbers, and maintenance professionals, work or purchase orders can be conveniently emailed directly to: admin@1300findleak.com.au.

Our dedicated office team will handle the coordination and communication of appointments with all involved third parties, such as tenants, landlords, and others, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

  • Gas or water burst pipes, rain-related leaks, and internal building leaks like shower leaks are distinct types of issues that can occur in a residential or commercial property. Understanding the differences between them is crucial for addressing the specific problem and taking the appropriate corrective action.

    1. Gas or water burst pipes: These leaks occur in the plumbing or gas lines within a property. Burst pipes can result from factors such as freezing temperatures, corrosion, or increased pressure within the system. An indication of a burst water pipe is when the water meter continues to run even when no water is being used within the property. This suggests that water is escaping somewhere in the system, possibly due to a burst pipe. An internal burst pipe typically results in a consistent flow of water into the building, which can lead to significant water damage if not addressed promptly. In cases of large leaks, the dwelling may even become flooded unless the water meter is turned off to stop the flow of water. Detecting and repairing gas or water burst pipes typically involves the expertise of a leak detection specialist who can locate the source of the leak, assess the damage, and recommend necessary repairs.

    2. Leak Detection (rain-related leaks): These leaks are caused by water infiltration during rainstorms or precipitation events. They often result from issues with the building's exterior, such as damaged roofing materials, poorly sealed windows or doors, or inadequate drainage systems. Addressing rain-related leaks involves identifying the point of water entry and resolving the underlying issue.

    3. Leak Detection (internal building leaks e.g., shower or balcony leaks): These leaks occur within the building's structure due to problems with plumbing fixtures, waterproofing, or seals. Addressing internal building leaks involves identifying the source of the leak and repairing or replacing the faulty component.

    4. Pre-purchase house inspection: This is a comprehensive assessment of a property's condition before a potential buyer finalizes the purchase. A pre-purchase house inspection includes an evaluation for current or hidden water leaks, plumbing problems, water damage and mould, bathroom and balcony defects, roof installation and compliance issues.

    5. Utility asset locating: This service involves identifying and mapping the location of underground utility lines, such as water, gas, electrical, or telecommunication lines. Utility asset locating is essential for construction, excavation, or repair work to avoid accidentally damaging these assets and causing service disruptions or safety hazards.

While all these services deal with various aspects of property inspection, their specific focuses, detection methods, and solutions differ significantly. Identifying the appropriate service based on your property's needs is essential to ensure proper treatment and prevent further damage or issues.
