What does moisture detection show?
Water that escapes from a shower, pipe, roof or balcony soaks into plaster, timber, tiles and concrete long before it shows on the surface. Moisture meters and thermal imaging show which areas are wet and how far the water has travelled, so we can follow it back to where it's getting in.
Why we don't rely on readings alone
A wet reading shows that a material is damp, not why. Brisbane's humid summers and condensation can push readings up on their own, so we confirm the source with the right test, such as a pressure test on the pipes, a flood test on a shower or water testing on a roof or balcony, before we tell you what's causing it.

How much does moisture detection cost in Brisbane?

Is a high moisture reading proof of a leak?
No. A reading shows that a material is damp, not why. Brisbane's humidity, condensation and rising damp can all cause high readings, so we confirm the source with testing before we say it's a leak.
Can you tell if it's a leak, rising damp or condensation?
Yes. The pattern of the readings and the tests we run tell them apart. A leak usually reads wettest near its source, rising damp shows as a band low on a masonry wall, and condensation sits on cold surfaces such as external walls, windows and ceilings.
Will my insurer or body corporate accept your report?
Our written report includes the moisture readings, photos, the source and the cause, which is what insurers and body corporate managers usually ask for. Whether a claim is accepted is up to your insurer.
Can your report help with my water bill?
If the moisture leads us to a concealed pipe leak, our report shows where it was. Urban Utilities, which supplies Brisbane and Ipswich, may offer financial assistance for a concealed leak once it's been repaired, and you'll usually need evidence of where the leak was. Logan and the Redlands have their own council water services and leak policies.
Do you repair the leak as well?
Yes, if you'd like us to. Our first visit is about finding the leak: we mark it, explain the cause and give you a report. Many plumbers, builders and property managers then do their own repairs. If you want us to fix it, we'll quote the repair and return at another time to complete it, often with trusted independent trades.
